How do i take a backup of my DM500 image ?

I have never used DCC to back up an image in that way
always use telnet then ftp from tmp folder on dreambox to pc
I even use the telnet and ftp part of DCC for the back up
so thanks again to master G for the information

using telnet copy or paste blue letters

To telnet, click START > RUN and type Telnet ip.address.of.dreambox
A command window will appear, enter username root and password dreambox.

To backup an image using Telnet
· Telnet to the box and paste the following command:

cat /dev/mtd/3 > /tmp/backup.img
· FTP to the box and navigate to the /tmp
· Here you will find the backup.img file.

the back up of the image is put in the tmp folder on the dreambox
it will be lost if the dm is rebooted (the back up will include all settings etc of the back up image)

you can use telnet to flash and back up

when flashing an image make sure you name the image backup.img
or dream up will be needed

here's a little tut

i was trying to flash a new image on my dreambox=500 s but in that process, i deleted the actual image on the box & not it is not connecting through telnet. :( dont know how to sort this problem out ? i was trying this through my laptop and dont have any cable to sort this out if needed.. please help...
