There is going to be the odd error's, i have seen several myself, i dont really watch film4 so not noticed that channel in particular but i do get the odd programme that is wrong from time to time on any random channels.... That is down to that channel making changes to its lineup, then by the time that is passed on to the broadcaster, and we process it and download to our boxes, we can miss the edited EPG guide and instead go with what was originally intended to be broadcast ... i hope that makes some sort of sense lol

I can look at uploading the data twice a day, it should be more accurate that way at least in theory ..?

Then if you come across incorrect data, it should just be a case of running epg importer again manually

by selecting the plugin and pressing yellow manual button...

(the best bit about epgimpoter imho is once you select it to run you can exit all the menu's and it dose its job in the background)

Starting tomorrow it will update to the server twice daily, lets see if it improves things

  • I have just seen this info ref the lost channels, I hope that it is of some use to other members:

Have you changed something because it's working perfect after this mornings epg update 8)

yes fixed it last night mate,...well i think so lol

just check that it is in fact the right data, as i am not sure if your itv channel area should be yorkshire or granada? (currently set to granada)

    • Official Post

    Mine should be itv Yorkshire

Just checked and you are right it's set as Granada at the moment, only noticed because of the regional news

Thanks mate, much appreciated, it should be yorkshire data

Reboot your box (that will refresh the epg channel list)

then download either overnight like normal or use the manual start on epg importer (yellow button)

  • Well after looking at it again looks like I gave you the wrong itv west Yorkshire info

so I've had you wasting your time for sod all, sorry about that

this is the right info for itv west yorkshire

jenseneverest with latest epg import you need to add nocheck "1"

    <source type="gen_xmltv" nocheck="1" channels="jenseneverestVERMIN.channels.xml.gz">

This will also work with older versions of epg import

correct me if i am wrong, but now if one source is down it simply uses another ?? I have had 2 sources for a while now, (since the linuxsat upgrade) but did not realise that if one went down some users won't not get that downloads data.... i had assumed it would have worked with one of them being up.... but the plugin had being selecting download source randomly ..... so as a result there was potential to get nothing....

  • Im not 100% sure I just added PLI latest changes to get around the server check. Maybe ask on the PLI forum about creating a log file as im not sure how you create it then you dont have to bypass the nocheck. As using the nocheck flag it looks like it will stick on that server.

  • This is the commit they added to check log https://github.com/OpenPLi/eni…9b48cc060a8ea7a2fcea33d5e

    Code
Check for the LastUpdate.log file on server hosting the data file.

If the last successful update is older than 2 days reject the server and switch to another one.
This should fix the problem when server still hold and return obsolete files but are no longer accessible to update them.

Edit this is LastUpdate.log for 1 of the rytec UK Live xc files

    Code
    http://www.xmltvepg.nl/LastUpdate.log
  • I have already said this to dsayers in pm, but this is just typical backwards openpli developers. They think they are changing things for the better, but ends up everyone having to write in extra code to just accommodate their totally un-tested mess they keep making. Same thing with all the button code, 6 months later it's still a joke. They are just constantly causing people grief at the moment as they really don't give a dam about anyone else other than their own blinkered attitude.
One guy has a problem, one guy fixes problem for himself, one guy makes commit with his awesome solution, one guy doesn't realise he has just caused complete mayhem once again. One guy should give up coding and go back to programming school. One guy keeps p!ssing lots of people off.

I would say thats a tad harsh TenBelow.... developers create images and ofcourse updates are normal, during the course of updates i would imagine plugins within an image someone is using is also updated and therefore changed...thats got to be part of the procedure... Sooo if someone edits a plugin within one single unit then how is the image creater supposed to know this ?

If i have picked this thread up wrong i do apoligise, however maybe it would be possible for others to create a particular image suited to oneself ? i would imagine that would solve a certain amount of bickering regarding another persons software/ie open pli/blackhole etc which btw seems to be shared gladly and welcomed without issues...

This has been explained in detail on the pli forum, with thanks to pr2

I will make the required changes to my sources when back home over the next few days

So if your IPTV channel are properly added using the #SERVICE 4097:.... now in the channels.xml this MUST also be 4097!

Why is 4097 properly added??? What law states it must be 4097? this is user preference based on service provided and user experience. So where as before you could have 1, 4097, 5001, 5002 and just set it as 1 in the xmltv file.

Now I am even more confused. Does 1 and 1 work. Does 5001 and 5001 work. etc etc. Does 5001, 5002 now just totally break.
Has all the combinations for this actually been considered. I don't know.

To prevent this it was decide in accordance with Rytec/Doglover to add a control file:
I interpret that, that every single service that now provides an xmltv file has to also have a lastupdate.log file. Er ok ...so lets just break everything until this happens, or may never happen.

But people that define there own sources.xml file that point to there own server can decide not to use this check (LastUpdate.log) by adding the attribute nocheck="1"

So EVERYONE other than the big satellite epg providers will now basically just have to add in this extra nocheck="1" to their xmltv code.

So for people that use IPTV and create there own sources.xml file and also channels.xml file this create a double donwload from EPG data mirror.
I don't understand why this creates a double download. Isn't this the way the plugin has always worked? Again serious lack of explanation or documentation.

To avoid this an ease the creation of personal .channels.xml files it is now possible to just create one file: custom.channels.xml

Then I read elsewhere (I think on github), they say this is not for iptv who would still have to have channels and source xml files. Now I am totally confused.

And what is the format of this mystery new file???

No more case sensitive for channel id into channels.xml file:
So for quite some time now, there has been a pretty standard format for epg/iptv providers to follow for their IDS. (For those that did it properly)
An example of this can be found here.
    https://www.iptv-epg.com/available-channels

I have read quite a few of the pr2 amends on github, and to be honest I see very little sense in any of it.

To confuse things even more they are referring to this commit made a month ago https://github.com/oe-alliance…da2559e4e980d449c250925fb

But didn't we have issues not so long ago with using service reference other than 1: in the channels.xml?
