Update on E2iPlayer

    There was several reason why there was not update during 2 weeks:

    1. Some time before last update my external hdd has been damaged. I store on it enviroment for compilation binary components used by E2iPlayer like ffmpeg, pycurl, exteplayer3 and so on. These components are not updated frequently but anyway because of hdd demage I was not able to compile for example exteplayer3 for all supported platforms any more.



    These make my very sad because on this hdd I had many data. However environment for development and deployment E2iPlayer (the part written in the python) was on my internal hdd, so it was not lost.



    2. I was on something like a two-week "vacation" and I did not have access to my PC nor to any STB.



    3. During my "vacation" I got many questions why no update - I answered with 1. and 2. As I wrote the problem 1. is not direct reason why there was no update E2iPlayer it self, but it could couse big issue when there will be need to update some binary component because of bug or something like that.



    During this time I was accused of lying, insulted me and I received many message were users demand update.

    I can not agree with such behavior of users. I spent hundreds of hours developing this plugin. E2iPlayer is my hobby and I share it with people for free. I never ask for donation or something like that. How users thank me for that?



    Because of this after I returned from "vacation" I decide to develop E2iPlayer in the private domain: https://gitlab.com/e2iprivate/e2iplayer



    I also started to create environment for binary components compilation from scratch.



    It will be not published because of many rude opinions addressed to me.

    Now, new versions of the E2iPlayer are only available for my friends and family.



    And those who spit on me and offended should now roll up their sleeves and made their on plugins or something others and share these with others.

    never really used e2iplayer myself it installed with whooshbuild automatically, that being said why are people slagging off a dev are they stupid if it wasnt for them there would be no plugins for people to use.

    No need to justify anything. And it's something I have threatened to do for a long time with my own work. Take it out of the forums.

    But then the good guys always keep me motiviated and I stick around a little longer.


    I fully agree with you though when you spend every spare hour of your day trying to make things for the community, just to get abuse or ignored is just now becoming the norm. All these crappy do everything builds have just created a bunch of lazy moaning users who just expect. Most of them don't even know how to do the basics on these boxes nowadays. Yet they think they have a voice regarding other peoples works while they sit on their fat behinds watching movies and eating popcorn. :popcorn1:. Wish I had time to watch my sateliite box.

    The majority also don't actually realise plugin creators/skinners are hobbyists. Probably working a full long working day and then even longer hours through our evenings.

    Certainly not experts in what we do, but willing to but the time and effort into rearching what we do.

    That is perfectly put. A few years ago there were a lot of coders about, or a least there were many more users that had skills to do a lot of things themselves, some of the old school are still about, but are not active on the forums much........ if at all.

    Where have all the backup image makers gone ??


    I have given it some thought as to some of the reasons why, would like others peeps thoughts here too...


    1. Enigma2 has come a long way, images and plugins simply work better.

    2. most users simply cant be arsed to learn anything and just want cheap TV

    3. Social media, you tube etc is easier than reading a forum, F**K sharing.....

    4. things are easier to setup with ipk files and idiot proof instructions

    5. for a few quid someone will do it for you, if you simply cant be arsed to learn anything yourself.

    6. anyone with skills is now fed up spoon feeding noobs and simply moved on to better things......

    7. someone always comes along looking to sell other peoples work.

    8 Boxes are a load cheaper now, it is no longer a specialist piece of kit, nor a hobby for most

    I personally made comments regarding your creation of this plugin but lets get things straight here.... i never once accused yourself of lying to anyboby...i also never insulted you or anyone else on here... if i had i would have been warned/banned from this website///

    You are also coming away with comments like those who spit on you....you really need to translate what you are saying into your own language because what you are typically saying is anyone who replied to your e2i thread who you disagreed with are disgusting.


    Ofcourse its natural for someone to take time out... no need for explanations either just go/dissapear and come back to it if you want.... whats confused me once again however is that you have created this new post under a new username but yet you have still failed to explain why you persisted in telling everyone that...


    NO UPDATES IN THE NEAR FUTURE??? what does that mean... we now ofcourse know you have gone and updates are gone and only for friends and family and blah blah blah.


    I really could not care about the plugin so go away and help your personal friends and family... we dont know or care about them either because we dont know them...goodbye samsamsam

    I am afraid there are several copy and paste of SSS's statements on a few forums. From what I can remember and also what I can see as a moderator of the disabled posts, the assertion that he was abused is unsubstantiated.


    It is a pity that people are blindly perpetuating the incorrect record of events.


    All he had to say was:

    I am/have been on holiday. I'll look at it when I get back.

    My HDD is broken. The files I need to use were on there, so it will take me time to be able to update the plugin. If the files are not elsewhere, it will take me longer.


    People would have understood.


    The guy is a very talented coder. If he wants to take his ball with him, that is his perogative.


    Anyway, can I please ask you to not execerbate the problem as quite a lot of people use his plugin

    The one that opened this thread is not SSS but he copied and pasted the statement by samsamssam, so I think that your Post had a wrong assumption and doesn't hold any ground.


    Maybe I sympatise with him as I, together with a lot of people, have been through this. When you do any voluntary work or sharing your hobby, you get a lot of critizing from people who are not interested in the project that you're doing and don't care of the good that you're doing to others and your sacrifices. Their only interest is criticizing and seeking attention.

    johndeere88 is the biggest troller on this forum. I really would'nt worry about what that keyboard warrior has to say.

    And I am glad you quoted his post before it got deleted. Because it shows what a fool he is.

    Check his post history out. All he does is abuse people.


    edit... my mistake. Johndeere88 post wasn't deleted. I blocked him a long time ago so I don't have to see his abusive crap.

    You are the reason why the likes of people like kiddac and sss get pissed off you knob,How dare you assume i am sss as stated by abu baniaz who is a well respected moderator on a few forums,I just posted on here what sss has posted on another forum to keep people up to date with a very popular plugin. people like you are full of it.

    You are correct sir,Just for the record i have posted his comment on one forum i belong to that has a good thread on this subject just to show the abuse people who spend their free time doing good work for others to enjoy have to put up with.Post reported as i am not sss.
