Images on OE-Alliance 4.4 branch will no longer allow FTP if you do not have a password set.
To set a password, there are two options:
Option 1.
Menu > Setup > Network > Password > Choose your password > Green (Save)
Pressing TEXT will open the full keyboard

Set it by command line using SSH or Telnet with applications like Putty/Terminal or similar

Passwords are saved/restored when using settings backup. So best to get used to this before ViX changes to 4.4 branch
