Does this plugin function in any E2 image, or ONLY in pure2 images?

I saw the first post that states "For pure2 users", but it is a little vague to me, so I'm not 100% sure.

    Thanks.

I'll just give my .02 cents here.

In my opinion, there is no "one box solution". I use E2 boxes and HTPCs (Linux) for different tasks, and I have yet to find "one box" that is convenient to configure/upgrade, is user friendly, and does everything well.

E2 box advantages: ease of channel list updates, multiple satellites/diseqc, remote, HDMI CEC, EPG, "Mrs friendly" << most important!

HTPC advantages: tons more horsepower, almost any software/app usable, endless IPTV "possibilities", can easily install any PVR/media center, a "real" web browser.

In my experience, Kodi or other streaming services on E2 boxes is painfully slow, but there is no better way to handle/use traditional telly.

With an HTPC, the possibilities are endless, but the PVR(Live TV) systems I've used just aren't there yet. Even with an air mouse, it's just not as user-friendly. I tried MythTV on my HTPC yesterday, (what a PITA to configure). It seemed to be pretty stable and feature rich, but the lack of a "normal" remote and channel list editing capabilities like DBEdit make it difficult to use/maintain. Personally, I don't understand all the hype about MythTV, it was prolly game changing technology 10 - 15 years ago, but now it's all kind of standard? Iv'e also used TVHeadend and VDR, but the same thing, just too time consuming to configure/maintain compared to E2 boxes. I've read good things about WMC, but I haven't used any of Mr Gates' products in a looooooong time.

With an E2 box, channel updates, flashing new images, and "normal" remote are just so much easier/more user and "Mrs friendly". On the other hand, IPTV or "other" content viewing possibilities are extremely limited. Obviously, you don't have the versatility of a full-blown computer.

I read that Kodi is developing a new system with a combined front/backend; that could be a game changer. Until then, I don't think there is a complete "one box solution".

    Hope this helps.

I use TVHeadend on an old school Desktop PC with a PCI Tuner card (digital devices) Link here: https://www.digital-devices.eu…ress-dd-cine-s2-v7a?c=156 This card is not cheap but it is awesome, never had a problem with it. It works out of the box in Windows and every version of Linux that I have tried (and that's many) with no driver issues.

I tried several USB tuners with Enigma2 and Linux and had nothing but problems.

I know you're using a Laptop, but you can "build" a kickass PC with a mini ITX case case for really cheap (Ebay is your friend)

Enigma2 is great for Satellite and Cable TV, but if you stream anything...a PC is night and day compared to SAT receivers.

    Just my .02 cents

    Here's my .02 cents,

    Like Codar said,

If you want primarily satellite/cable, go for Enigma2 STB

If you want primarily streaming, go for WETEK/HTPC.

I have both and I watch a lot of LIVE sports...my HTPC kicks the $hit out of my Atemio Nemesis for streaming LIVE events, so many more options. The disadvantage of most streaming services...no recording.

But, the convenience of a "normal" remote and recording/pause/rewind/FF of TV, ease of updating/installing channel lists, my Atemio wins hands down.

If I was looking to buy a new box today...I wouldn't buy a satellite receiver, I think SAT and cable are dying.

There are not a lot of viewing-card options available that don't cost an arm and a leg. If they are somewhat affordable, they have to be married to specific CAM/reader, or used/updated in original box that costs additional €150 here and another €150 there, or can only be used in THEIR $hitty-a$$ box with no or inferior recording capabilities. More boxes means more power = more electricity, plus inconvenience.

I'm certainly not an expert on this, but I don't know of any satellite subscription/card other than $ly UK that can be used to view documentaries, movies, current shows, sports(epl/nfl/nba/mlb). I'm sure this is what they wanted, but I think it's going to backfire.

I think these providers are shooting themselves in the foot, because I think people are going to get fed up with all of the restrictions and streaming is going to completely take over.

For example, I like to watch NFL games, I bought NFL gamepass and I can watch every game from 2012 - present on-demand. The quality is much better than $ly ever had.

And...If I'm watching via satellite receiver in my non $ly "approved" STB, I don't have to worry if my card got updated, I don' have to worry if the rain/snow fudged up the reception, I don't have to pay for 44 trillion other channels that I would never dream of watching.

I live in Germany, and that's the way they're going here too (sat and cable)...you'll watch our services that are only available on OUR inferior boxes and you'll like it!! We'll make it as inconvenient as possible for you to record/watch programs that YOU PAY FOR!!!!

    That's my rant.

    Thanks for listening.

    Thanks for your reply/idea Joeuser,

    Your information was very helpful.

I think I figured my problem out, but it isn't solved yet.

I had cable internet/telephone from my provider for about a year, then I just added cable TV. I get the same amount (not all/enough) of channels on 2 different TV tuners and my Enigma2 box; about 64 as stated before. I should receive about 250.

After numerous calls to their so-called "technical support" I got the usual run-around/BS answers... i.e. it's probably a bad cable (not insulated enough) << complete BS. And, maybe it's the smartcard... << WTF ????

I Googled the fudge out of it and discovered that my provider installs an in-line filter on the coax/cable that blocks most of the frequencies from cable TV when you only order/pay for internet/phone. This is logical to me, as some of the channels are unencrypted, therefore: order internet/telephone and get cable TV as a bonus.

This in-line filter is installed in a locked junction box that I cannot access, therefore the "cable guy" has to come and remove it and then all "should" be well.

But, as is normal with everything here in Germany, it cannot be their fault, it must be something at your end, because German engineering is UBER better than everything else... <<< Google VW diesel cars U.S.A.

I went to my provider and told them what THEIR problem is, and they still insist it's 3 bad tuners, or unsupported devices, as they say...<<< un F-ing believable!!

I like Germany, and it's a very cool place to live, but customer service is APPALLING/completely non-existent here... <<< most German people/citizens will also tell you this.

I know I'm ranting, but maybe this will help some people that have KD.

    Thanks.

    Thanks Cazuela,

Tuxbox contains a full cables.xml and terrestrial.xml, but it still cannot find any channels after scan.

Does anyone know how to be almost certain a tuner is bad other than replacing it?

    Thanks.

    STB: Atemio Nemesis

    Image: OpenATV

I can't log into the OpenATV forum, that's why I am asking here. Also the English section of the OpenATV forum is extremely limited.

I can't get my plugin DVB-C/T tuner to find any channels during scan. I've tried Cable scan option also service searching>> Automatic scan/manual scan. It always displays 0 channels found after scan complete. I've removed and reseated the tuner several times.

I'm 100% sure the cable/line is good because my TV tuner finds all the channels during a scan.

I've also transferred a current bouquet/list via DBEdit, and when I select any cable channel, it's always a blank screen.

The tuner is recognized by the STB...it's displayed as DVB-C on the service searching>>tuner screen. Both DVB-S Sat tuners are working fine.

Note: this is not for UK Cable, but KD(Germany)

I'm thinking the tuner is fudged, does anyone have any ideas??

    Thanks.

    Thanks for your reply Robijay.

Does a box exist that I can record $ly italia?

I like to watch American sports, and they show a lot, but due to the time difference it's difficult to watch them live.

I almost think that sat is completely dead. There is so much more choice via streaming.

For satellite, why in the fudge would I buy a subscription to a service that I can't record?????????? This is 2015, not 1995.

There are almost no non $ly UK subscriptions left that people can watch sports with recording capability. This is probably $ly's ultimate goal, but I'm not willing to pay their prices for a mediochre at best, with has been announcers for NFL coverage, and absolutely NO NCAA coverage.

I use an HTPC for streaming live sports (some even pay services) and there is WAY MORE CHOICE and sometimes better quality. I think the Sat/Cable providers are cutting their own throats with this BS game about having to buy this box and that box to be able to watch this service/channel. I'm just ranting here...sorry, just frustrated, because $ly Italia used to be soooooo good.

    Thanks for listening.

I have no idea which section this should be in?? Sorry

What's the latest on reading a $ly Italia local card w/ O$cam or CCCam?

I'm thinking about getting another 12 month prepaid card w/sport option, but I don't want to use it in original STB (which I have) because no recording.

Will O$cam or CCCam even read the card now?

    Thanks for any help.

I don't have a quad tuner, but I have Atemio Nemesis (triple tuner) and a stand alone HTPC. Not a WETEK, but a proper HTPC (can upgrade)

In my experience, if you are watching TV shows or Movies in XBMC/Kodi then the sat box is probably OK for both.

BUT, if you want to watch LIVE streams i.e. sports, news channels or LIVE tv shows, an HTPC kicks the $hit out of an E2 box. There are many more possibilities/addons for live streams in "normal" XBMC/Kodi. Sportsdevil is a great addon and I appreciate all of the hard work that has gone into it, but there are MUCH BETTER quality addons/sources for watching LIVE streams on XBMC/Kodi.

I watch a lot of sports and my old school HTPC is a trillion times better for this.

I used TVHeadend on my HTPC for DVB-S TV for a while, but it's a pain in the ball$ updating channel lists, just takes so long, this may have improved now though, so others may chime in. But it's not as simple as Autobouqets or DBEdit on E2 boxes.

Also, XBMC/Kodi crashes now and then; not so good for the other half when it happens in the middle of a recording <<<< ask me how I know this.

I don't think the technology is there YET for a one box solution and that's my 2 cents.

    Hope this helps.

    STB - Atemio Nemesis

    Image - HDFreaks

I just added a DVB-C tuner to my box and downloaded a channel list for my cable provider. ABM plugin is not an option (my cable provider isn't listed). The normal scan finds only about 50% of the available channels.

IN DBEdit: I tried to import or merge the downloaded cable bouquets with my existing satellite bouquets but it only imports a few channels and comes up with a LOT of errors.

Does the import function in DBEdit work?

Are there any other options to merge/import bouquets??

    Thanks.

Can you record a stream and watch live tv at the same time with WebradioFS?

This function works in Shoutcast but I can"t get it to work in Webradio. I use HDFreaks image on Atemio Nemesis and Shoutcast causes greenscreen everytime.

In WebradioFS...if I exit out of the plugin it stops the recording.

    Thanks.

    My 2 cents,

I don't have a DUO but do have an Xtrend ET9200.

I just got an Atemio Nemesis last weekend, I'm really happy with it, excellent picture quality. I have 2 x DVB-S2, adding a DVB-C tuner module soon. I have 3.5" internal HDD and it's been running flawlessly and not too hot.

I'm really happy with it, much faster boot times. I haven't tested HDMI-in yet, but looks promising. The only disadvantage to this box is not many images support it (but I knew that going in) HDFreaks is my favorite image and it's working perfectly.

The Mutant has quad tuners, but I couldn't justify spending extra 100 Euros for 4th tuner.

    Hope this helps.

I think TVH is easy to setup, ok have a learning time but when you get it is more advanced than e2, and softcams is also quite easy just one menu :D, but you also have VDR that is quite more popular in Germany and was the inspiration of e2 (in brief story - DBOX -> Neutrino -> VDR / E2

I agree with the softcam part as TVHeadend has had a major upgrade, I think 3.9 or 4.0 now. I only used it for a couple of days but the channel list editing/sorting/updating was too time consuming for me. Do you have a link to a tutorial or video for TVHeadedit sorting/updating channel lists? That was the dealbreaker for me.

Another thing in my opinion to think about is DVB cards. I think it's possible to get the Wetek with pre-installed DVB-S tuners, I have no experience with them, but it sounds pretty good.

But if you decide to build/use a "normal" PC, the cost of GOOD DVB S/C/T cards that work out of the box in Linux is expensive; many cards advertise they work out of the box in Linux, but reality is a different story.

I have Digital Devices dual DVB-S2 card and works/recognized automatically "out of the box " in Linux(OpenElec), but it's about €165. If you want to add DVB-C or T; add another €165 = €330. <<<<<< You can get a kicka$$ Enigma2 quad tuner DVB S/C/T box for the same price.
I also tried several brands of USB DVB-C/T tuners, some were not recognized by Enigma2 or Linux/OpenElec, but one of them was, but you could eat dinner in the time it took to change channels on DVB-C.

I was in your position about 2 weeks ago, I couldn't decide whether to go 100% HTPC or Enigma2 for TV and HTPC for Kodi. I chose to still have 2 separate devices and I'm glad I did. As I said in earlier post, I don't think technology is good enough for a 1 box solution yet.

    My 2 cents,

I have an ET9200 ( Atemio Nemesis on the way) and an HTPC (oldschool ATX board, video card, ATX case).

It all depends on what you want from your sat receiver, but I don' think technology is good enough for a 1 box solution YET.

For Live TV: Enigma2 receiver beats the pants off HTPC (TVHeadend/VDR), channel changing speed is about the same on both, but pause/rewind/FF is NIGHT and DAY. Also it is a PITA to update channel lists, TVHeadedit is similar to DBEdit, but nowhere near as quick or easy. External card readers and softcam configs are also a big PITA on TVHeadend(no Feeds)

For streaming NON live videos: Enigma2 receiver and HTPC are about the same, but there are a trillion more sources with HTPC (OpenELEC)

For streaming LIVE streams: HTPC kicks the $hit out of Enigma2 receivers, I view LIVE sports stream a lot, and my HTPC is NIGHT and DAY compared to my ET9200. The quality of $portsdevil is terrible, there are many more better choices/sources on HTPC/Kodi.

    I hope this helps.

I'm looking for a new box that supports modular tuners (DVB-S/C/T)

Anybody got the Atemio Nemesis? Reviews?

The Mutant HD2400 seems to be very image friendly...OpenVix, HDFreaks, OpenPLI, OpenATV, but the Atemio Nemesis is not.

    Thanks for any help.

    Thanks for your reply rigrat.

I'd just like to get a warm fuzzy from someone who is actually using esata to make sure there is no noticable lag or mount problems.

My other half would kill me if it's not as responsive as an internal drive.
