Ok, it has a tuner and regarding DRM I had an email replied by dinobot support inbetween and there the answer is, that Widevine L1 is supported. Microsoft Playready not supported.
libreelec support would be nice
The HiSilicon chip used here is the problem, apparently, as LibreELEC doesn't support this chip manufacturer currently. But from what I've read, it could happen in the feature, because HiSilicon seems to be meeting some of the requirements like a proper Linux kernel etc. Will take time though. One user there wanted to give it a go, but not sure if he is still around.
U5PVR from vivant, they have abandomed us for this new project, sadly, there is no more support for thier already customers... so sad...
thanks vivant hope that with this new idea you get some more idiots like me who payed for you crappy box.
I haven't been following U5PVR / vivant that closely aside from their thread on Kodi forum regarding U5PVR. It's quite quiet there since a while, but according to their forum smartstb.net U5PVR is still receiving firmware updates quite regularly (although forum itself is rather quiet too, it seems).
Dinobot is from the same company and has a new forum, which is quiet too so far, but Dinobot is new, so maybe it just takes time... Hard to judge the support vivant is providing. At least per email it was quick, detailed, competent.
What problems do you have with U5PVR, if I may ask?
