sorry, i was referring to non zgemma receivers and if openvix is a better image to use if suitable for cable.

Is Triple Tuner DVB-S2 + 2 x DVB T2/C Hybrid Tuner mean that the cable tuner has one feed in but splits into two tuners so i dont need to split the coax

they support openvix officially yes ?...much benefit over openATV ?..ie, like plex plugins.

Looking at THIS H5 it has three tuner, one sat, and two for cable correct ?

EDIT: think i answered my iown question about openvix, if im correct it is more for sattelite which is why cable users generally go for openATV ??

Well i have given up on my H2 now, ill just use to play with. So im looking for a STB for cable, not worried about having sat tuners but a bonus if there is one embedded alongside two cable tuners, i pretty much went straight for the zgemma H5 but all the problems with it being fussy with USB sticks and troubles i have had with my H2 are making me look elsewhere.

I also want to be able to stream from my PLEX server remotley but with the H2 it was very choppy and unusable, would the H5 be more suitable for this ?..maybe it was the plugin which is crap, which leads to me my next question, is there any benefit over having a reciever that officially supports openvix, is openvix better than openATV ?, i see that openvix supports PLEX to some extent.. So any recommendations, i am purchasing tonight to have delivered friday.

    1. i want to be able to record one channel and watch one on VM

    2. i want to be able to use my PLEX server with it

    3. space for internal HDD a bonus or capacity for other large storage device.

    4. i dont want to spend more than £100

    Thanks.

    Whats your budget ?

Does it need to be a twin tuner ?

Hey, Sorry, missed this reply, £100 is my top end, i am also considering THIS ZGEMMA as an alternative over the H2, doesnt seem to be much benefit over the H2 other than an extra cable tuner, i did find with the H2 recording a channel meant you couldnt watch others, i dont want a sat tuner so would also be happy with 3 cable tuner if its possible to buy them with your selection of tuners. Also i run a PLEX server and whilst i could get a PLEX plugin for H2, it was very choppy, whereas it works fine from my media PC on ther same internet connection.

I know that the image is written to the winbond chip as i have removed it, written bootloader to it and then soldered it back into box, when i switch it on it says boot and the screen is blank, so i get my working USB stick, have tried every single image i can get my hands on, the box starts to flash but it only flashes the boot logo, ie, andymcdonalds joker logo or open ATV logo, depending which one im trying to flash, i have tried with cables in and out...would it make any difference if i was to plug the cable feed in ? i dont think so...air digital are giving me no help at all as i am asking questions it would seem, are beyond most members of all the forums i am asking questions in....shame on air digital for thier response as i am pretty sure they could say with definition what the problem is and how i could remedy it. What i could really do with is a working box and copy the winbond chip with the image installed already then werite it to my chip.

    IMAGE FLASH VIDEO

The video will show the box flashing, it only seems to flash the slash screen, I tested this by deleting splash.bin, the other files are not get flashed, I believe the splash screen gets stored on the winbond chip along with bootloader, so I can only come to the conclusion that the image is stored/written to nand and that this is where the problem lies, I can't identify the nand chip to look to replace it and airsat have been of no help whatsoever.

So.....i got a new winbond chip and wrote bootloader to it and soldered back in, im back to where i was before, box is trying to flash but it goes to boot very quickly and doesnt boot up...just looping, im wondering is it possible to right the image directly to the chip, how would it be written to it??

i have sent the bootloader for z gemma h2 to and ebay seller of winbond serial eeproms who was going to write the file for me, he has told me it will not work because he needs the FULL 4mb binary for it, does anyone have this or can maybe fully dump thiers ?

the power supply is a brick type with radiuo lead, have tried several other suitable psu's. I tried flashing the boot loader via usb method but no joy, it doesnt matter what i do, its just not doing the flash even though it says it is, it goes from FLSH to boot way to quickly and remains on boot, i cant even get the stock image on now but when i did it was locking up and freezing then would revert to boot state again after powering off...really want to know where the image is flashed to, dont think its the winbond chip where boot loader is stored

Thanks..informative. I'm already looking at new box..have new exact replacement winbond on way..after that if it doesn't work I'll buy a new box...but I would like to go medieval on it...get that nand out and flash it with my programmer.

anyone who has read my thread here, will know my troubles of flashing. Long story short, i removed the winbond chip and reprogrammed it with bootloader and soldered back in and this got me back to a state where i could flash the box. i must reiterate that the usb sticks i am using are not an issue here. I cant get andy mc donalds image to flash past the bootlogo and can only flash a stock image succesfully once in about 15 times, when flashing it will change from flash to boot so quickly it does not give you time to pull it out before it starts the flash process again, to remedy this i changed the force file to noforce and when i flash it then it will change to USB after flashing...i do not take it out or switch off box, it just changes itself to boot then starts loading....once loaded i can navigate the menu setting etc to set up box but after about 5 minutes it locks up and freezes..so i power off and on but then it reverts back to boot.

Is the image stored on the winbond chip where bootloader is stored ?...the winbond chip is the original relfashed...could this be a dodgy chip and worthy of getting a new replacement one ?..either way the box is not well....it is certainly not the usb sticks or images i am using.

found another old 2gb usb stick, kingston data traveller, done a LLF, then windows full format, same issue...the stock image takes a bit longer to flash which teased me a bit as i thought it had completed but it had just gone back to boot again except it said usb..so i also tried changing the file from no force to force...just loops back to boot again :(....

...another USB stick ??...its not like it nots trying to flash...maybe need to look to the chip that stores the image...would like to remove it and program the image to it.

now im back to where i was before the bootloader troubles, just tried a stock image, same thing, with this one it comes up USB, i press power, its starts flsh then again it changes to boot back to usb..like its looping, all i get is the start up logos, the USB stick is fine...where is the image being flashed to ?..the winbond chip ?, seriously thinking of flashing the bootloader via usb again but that is the point at which i got the blank LCD and had to do all this chip programming.

Please use another usb stick, the zgemma is an absolute pain in the arse the usb sticks.

Just flash a basic openatv image from here:

    http://images.mynonpublic.com/openatv/6.0/index.php?

:( ... i know what your saying, i do know this one works but it is a 16gb and takes hours to do a LLF....i bought a kingston 2gb flash drive but box wont even look at it...2gb flash drives on the high street are like rocking horse shite..any reccomendations...? dont suppose i could use a 2gb flash card in a usb adaptor ?

now im back to where i was before the bootloader troubles, just tried a stock image, same thing, with this one it comes up USB, i press power, its starts flsh then again it changes to boot back to usb..like its looping, all i get is the start up logos, the USB stick is fine...where is the image being flashed to ?..the winbond chip ?, seriously thinking of flashing the bootloader via usb again but that is the point at which i got the blank LCD and had to do all this chip programming.
