Ok but this guide assumes I have Black Hole Image. I cant install ANY image on my Duo2 because of faulty hardware. Is there a way to install the image on the USB stick not depending on the box image (which is the original factory image)?

Ok I put the cfe update on FAT 32 formatted flash, rebooted the box but NOTHING happened. there was NO display from the front panel at all. I put the factory image that I got from the vuo plus site on a similar flash and booted again but NOTHING happened. I tried to install through the plugin automatic backup restore but nothing happened. The box is not accepting changing image in any way.....
By the way, when I try to upgrade factory software through the plugin available in the image I get the message: factory software does not exist.

I think maybe u need to try to reflash u box with genuine image from vuplus ???This is a good possibility. There are 2018 images on their site so I am going to try those and see what happens. but my time is limited nowadays....

the pen has to be fat32 not ntfs..
There is possibly another way to flash this box if you think this image is blocking usb kernal reading, and that is via the hdd,
whether the box is genuine?
I formatted with HP tool into Fat32 not NTFS
I tried that as in post #49 but it didnt work
The box is genuine. i bought it directly from a dealer. ....

OK great. I will work on that...It may take me 24 hours to do so or even more but will let you know.

ok can u try to buy couple usb like 4 gb
when u put usb the box if off then put it on wait until message in front panels ask u to press little power on in front panel door .
u can try with rear input usb .
I tried 1 GB, 2GB and 4GB, put it in front or rear but the front panel never shows anything at all. even when the HD was disconnected. ...

is easy to take off hard drive take no more then 3 minutes and try to flash it with usb .
and the end make sure u have genuine vuplus range ??? if is clone u can not put original image .
I know you are doing your best to help. I am not saying it is your fault that I cant flash. I actually did all the recommended steps but still cant flash. I took the HD off but the USB still couldnt flash. I have genuine duo2 which I bought from a dealer. The USB is not flashing the device after using all the methods you suggested and after taking the HD out. I know this forum is more helpful than others so I am not blaming anybody. It is no body's fault.
Now pls look at the pic in post 49 and tell me which choice do I take? kernel with root or kernel only or root only? I tried choice 2 but the flash didnt work. I need a long time to try each step because I see your messages 8 hours after they are posted due to my time zone. Pls be patient....

It looks like somebody is pissed off....

usually list them for others to advise. If you don't list them, people don't know and will ask. Then several hours later you answer. They respond almost immediately and they wait several hours for you to provide more imformation.
I listed those options that I found in post #45. and I asked which one to choose. I answer late because of the time difference between us. I am at GMT+10 time zone so I may not be available when others answer. I certainly thank all those who try to help.

You have not followed the instructions. You went one folder too far.
PM me your team viewer details. I wont be hanging around for you. Offer expires 19:30 GMT
Sorry I wont be available for teamviewer until 8 more hours from now. That is why I said it is hard through teamviewer. As for the folder, the plugin wont read anything from vuplus so I had to go to due2 which worked. Now I need to know which option to choose.

If you look at the screen, it is pretty self explanatory.
Blue= Restore backup (ignore the "backup" bit, you will be flashing a new image)
Navigate to where you have the image file
Select/highlight image
Yellow to unzip. It will be extracted in the current folder
Highlight the folder then Green to "run flash"
Ok now I installed the plug in. I put the folder Vuplus on hard drive and I had to go to Duo2 folder for the plug in to find the files... When I hit green I got choices: 2-root and kernel or 3-root only or 4-kernel only. I chose 2 but the process started for a second but stopped suddenly and nothing happened thereafter. No image was flashed. What went wrong?. I used openvix. Is there a possibility that my receiver is locked and no flashing is possible on it??

Have you installed the plugin?
Stage 1.
Transfer the ipk to /tmp directory,
Stage 2.
Use function in image to install ipk or
Use following command in terminal/putty/dcc
opkg install /tmp/*.ipk
Ok I will try that...when I go home...

I was not talking about how to use the plugin. It is about how to install it?? I know it is done through Putty but not sure what the command line is...Can you put some details pls.

Try installing the full image backup plugin. You can then use it to flash the receiver
This seems to be a good idea but I need some details. I know the plug in installed through putty by putting it in temp folder etc...but what is the command for that?

HI again I try to help u and send u all's informations u need I am not sure if u are following all's steps , remember I ask u to remove internal hard drive and put new image fresh not backup image ,
I got a 1GB flash, formatted with FAT32, put the vuplus folder unzipped in it. turned off the receiver from the back switch, put the flash in front hole turned power back on, but nothing happened. The receiver didnt recognize the flash. I already initialized the HD as you said. But I havent removed it completely. I used 3 different flashes, and 3 different images not backup one but still no use......cc76bdb8.jpg
