managed to get tgis working. Didn't notice but the pole I was using had a very slight curve. Bought a new one and a sat meter from screwfix and set up to 0.8 w. Getting 84% on Al Jazeera. A learning curve and a thanks to everyone who helped and advised.

    regards

can this box be used as a tv receiver or is it purely streaming

The S mini has a Satellite tuner: https://www.world-of-satellite…v-receiver-media-streamer

sounds like the s mini could be what I am looking for. I presume the TV would just be a closed source. Would want it for watching Freesat channels and streaming rather than 2 separate boxes. Are there any reviews anywhere

thanks. I think my problem has been caused by the pole having a slight flex in it. Got another stronger one and will try again. Thanks for everyones input

Hi guys, can someone please tell me how to turn off subtitles on BBC on Open ATV image (VU Solo2). I've had this before but can't remember how to do it. Been through all menus several times and is driving me crazy. Also how to turn off Narration on all channels. I can do channels separately but seems to come back. Again I've been here before but can't sort it

    many thanks

this has got me scratching my head. The motor seems to want to go in the wrong direction. Got 19e set up with good signal. Tried to move to 13e but went opposite way. Is it possible for motor to be faulty??. I will try my old motor and see what happens.Double checked lat/long settings.

Having got a good signal on 19e how would I set it up using diseqc instead of usals. Never done it that way before.

Using open ATV on VU+ Solo2

Standing behind the dish if you go from 19e to 0.8 w the dish should move to the right.

Motor's not upside down is it ?? Pics would help.

fairly certain it's the right way. It's a Technomate 2600 from sponsor and fits so that shaft is down. My previous one was 2100 and is fitted same way. I will try that one tomorrow and see what result I get. There is a reset hole on motor but am reluctant to try it

Trying to install after downloading latest version from here. Put into temp file using filezilla/ install local extension/ green to install then get message

'' Done Installed, upgraded or removed 0 packages(with 0 errors)

Not installed. Also installed Linuxsat Panel using same method and that worked. Is server down on that. Nothing seems to be working there

The point is he needs to get his receiver to even move the dish, never mind finding satellites, which from what I am reading he hasn`t been able to do. I asked the question, can you move the dish using the 2 buttons on the motor? I got no reply. If you can`t then something is wrong at the receiver end.

    bo.

sorry Bo must have missed that. The dish will move but when using the signal finder it will only move east and then seems to stick there. I have moved it west using the positioner setup. So it seems that the motor is ok but the sat positions don't appear to be there. I have disabled limits . Wonder if a reset may do the trick. It does move using the buttons

I would not be worrying about longitude and latitude in heusters case, if you read what the member is after that aint really required, 13/19 and 28.2 can be stored as individual satellites quite easily especially if 19 east is banging in signal wise.

@heuster.. you do have to setup your tuner correctly as boddily says so DONT use usals...you need to go into your tuner settings for motorised and use diseqc 1.2, save 19 east and then save 13 and so forth.

thanks mate. Going to try and do that. Must say I have always used usals before and never had problems with it but for some reason I just can't get this to work.

Are you getting the 99% signal on your meter and nothing on your receiver? I ask because it looks to me like there is something wrong at the receiver end. It`s not getting a signal and it`s not moving the motor. I think your first step should be to just get the receiver to move the motor. Does the motor have any buttons on it to move the dish east to west/west to east?

    bo.

no mate getting 99% on channels on 19e but not sure how to move dish about. Can't get it to move using signal finder, and baffled by the positioner setup function. There are movement buttons on motor

got a meter and have now lined up on 19.2 e getting 99% signal. What is next step. I have tried using signal finder and positioner setup but can't get motor to move. I am using VU solo2 with Open ATV . I have only used usals before so not sure how to move dish from receiver

    thanks gray

Hi hueser, really difficult to tell you dish elevation as its a an old iss dish I use for playing with, the numbers on the side show its at 80, but more or less the dish is vertikal to the ground just like all the other sky dish around. Photos below.

that does look a shallow angle. Maybe that's where I'm going wrong.

Hi, did you set you motor to 0 and then put it on the pole. Then did you make sure that you motor is pointing exactly at mag south? Check this with a compass and then check again with a digital compass app on your phone. Once you have done this then turn you receiver on a choose a channel like ajazeer english on 0.8w this motor will turn slightly and then its a matter of trying to get a picture. This is where you would move the elevation up and down a little and maybe east of west.

I have a tm 2600 motor at have the same latitue as you and I set my motor up to lattitude of 53 on the scale on the left hand side and it 37 deg on the elevation side.

Thanks for your input I did that but didn't set it to due south as you suggest. Will try that tomorrow. Did you set your dish elevation to 22.4?
