i had the same issue a while ago, it turned out to be a powerline extender in another part of the house that was causing all the problems, if i had figured that out earlier it would have saved a lot of headache changing router, cables etc.

If you never used linux really before i would go for linux mint, ubuntu is also a good choice but needs a bit more setup to get it the way you want. Check out distrowatch it has tons of distros, personally i would stick to a debian based system rather than something exotic like arch.
There is no best linux distro they all have good and bad points, some look better than others but you can chop and change things to get them the way you like it.
Whatever one you go for you are in for a steep learning curve but stick at it theres any amount of support out there.

I have an nvidia shield, it is great for iptv, kodi etc but no satellite support, plus they are expensive.
As everyone has said its going to be multiple box's, its horses for courses

I had the same issue on a vusolo2,i had to manually start vpn
So did you manually start it once the box was booted? How and when did you disconnect? With a cline isnt it best to get the vpn to start at boot, i am unsure regarding this. No issues with iusing it on my PC or Mobile.
Yes once the box was booted, yes its best to get the vpn started before cccam runs but it wouldnt do this, in the end i just stopped using vpn as it was too much hassle to be honest. Probably not the wisest thing to do but im all for an easy life

I am fairly fresh using iptv, i am using xcplugin on a vu-solo2 running openatv 6.2.
Is there a better box i could be using? or a different plugin etc?
Usually my streams are stable but an odd time i get artifacts on screen, im suspecting this is a provider error rather than a problem my end but im open to trying different setting etc.

I usually put a condom over the end of the ethernet cable before i plug it in.

never used devil linux, but ive been using this for years with excellent results https://www.ipfire.org/
I cant see a distro that runs from a usb drive being up to much to be honest, running a vpn is very cpu intensive and with a lot of read/writes a usb drive wont be last that long

take a look at this http://magneticore.com/ubuntu-…erface-from-p2p1-to-eth0/
it will make configuration easier after you change to eth0

Some images require to be installed in flash and will not work in multi boot, if you really want to try it, install it in flash and use multi boot for other images
