Can't update Oscam-emu with new binary - will not start

Here's what I'm doing

Stop currently running oscam-emu

Ftp to usr/bin

Change name of working oscam-emu

Copy new oscam-emu to usr/bin and change name to match

Change file permissions to 755

Reboot box

Go to softcam panel and choose the softcam

Start the cam

"No active cam" message appears

I notice the new oscam-emu I transfer over has different Owner/Group permissions than the old one, not sure if that matters ? The working one is 1000 1000 and the new one is 0 0.

Thought maybe it was because I was using a Ubuntu machine so tried on a Windows machine and it was the same problem.

What can I do to get this to work ?

Oh and I'm using an Octagon SF4008.

Good idea will try it.

Nothing changed. I've read others have the same problem but I guess no one ever found a reason for it.

Will only matter again when I go to upgrade the bin file.

Might be something simple like the bin requiring simplebuild script commands or as said above wrong file selected.

Bin files were downloaded from here for an Octagon SF4008. Scripts are already installed from previous Oscam, I'm just trying to upgrade the binary.

Ok I see it now under "Transfer type". It was on Auto, will switch it to Binary and see if that changes anything.

That still did not work. The file was downloaded from here, compiled by juli13 but I can't find the link.

The one I've tried goes by this filename: oscam-svn11391-arm_v7-webif-emu The Note.txt file that is in the rar is different than the one you posted but still written by juli13 not sure how significant that is.

Will ftp this one over and see if it will run.

Did not work. "No active cam" message. The one that works is from this feed.

Many times if I install an ipk I can't find the resulting installed file, is that normal ? Sometimes an icon is created under plugins, sometimes you have to go Plugins/download but other times it seems the installed name is different and/or I can't find it. Where is a "feed",ipk supposed to go ?

So I transferred the file over again but this time went to the webif and opened a terminal and ran /usr/bin/oscam_atv_emu and got this:

sh: /usr/bin/oscam_atv_emu: No such file or directory

This seems to be at the core of why I can't ftp a file over and get it to run. What's up with that ?

I put "su root" in front of that command and it came back with "cannot execute binary file" so perhaps it IS incompatible.

The name of the new binary is "oscam" and the name of the working binary is "oscam_atv_emu" so in the start script it is "oscam_atv_emu"I just changed the name of the binary from "oscam" to "oscam_atv_emu" so everything matches so this is not the problem.

I have a working oscam but it's 11353 that's why I'm trying to find a newer working binary. Thanks for your help I will keep trying other binaries until I find one that works.
