Yes, this image will work with all DM500HD boxes (Clones or Original), but you will need to replace the old unsupported sim by the new Japhar Sim. Then it will work smoothly.

Like replacing the sim in a Mobile phone. Turn off box, Remove the old one and insert the new sim.

Seeing your description, you have an old sim that is stuck to the old Kernel, so to use the new Kernel 3.2 and IPTV etc, you will need to remove the old sim and replace/upgrade the box to the Japhar sim, you will find it on the link below,

Then your box will fly, as when you bought it, like a new box, I done the same upgrade to my DM500HD, I love it now ;o)
